We are offering a five-day course to learn how to collect specimens in the field, obtain genomic data and interpret biodiversity using cutting-edge phylogenomic analyses.

This training initiative is aimed at PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, early-career environmental science researchers and those working in biology, environmental and ecological sectors.

The course (2 to 6 March 2026) will benefit those who wish to enhance their understanding of biodiversity discovery methods. Scientists from the Natural History Museum will guide you through the skills necessary to document and describe biodiversity using intensive phylogenomic analyses and field-collected data.

Really fun to give a joint plenary with Patrick Campbell about the importance of museum collections in herpetological research - many thanks to the organizers for the invitation. Dr. Ian Brennan and Joe Rees also presented new research on frogs and squamates. Overall an exceptional outing to the Midlands complete with a visit to the Wolves pitch (Molineux Stadium) for the closing banquet!
